"Small Town, Big Dreams: Darius Rush’s Life Calling" Wins Southeast Emmy

Gamecocks+ is proud to announce that the original short film, "Small Town, Big Dreams: Darius Rush’s Life Calling," has won the Southeast Emmy® Award in the category of 407 Sports – One-Time Special. The awards were presented at the 50th Annual Southeast Emmy® Awards Gala held on June 15 in Atlanta.

The film chronicles the inspiring journey of Darius Rush, Gamecock Football cornerback, from his humble beginnings in Kingstree, South Carolina, to the University of South Carolina, and ultimately fulfilling his lifelong dream of reaching the NFL. It delves into the challenges he overcame, the unwavering support of his family and community, and the sheer determination that propelled him to success.

Viewers are given an inside look at “Darius Rush Day” and the celebration during the 2023 NFL Draft while hearing from the people of Kingstree, like his mom and Nana, who helped him achieve his goals and overcome unimaginable loss at a young age.
